Symbiosis Institute of Geoinformatics(SIG) The SIG was launched in August 2004, with a vision to create potential trained human resource to meet the future demand of this slowly developing technology, for the welfare of the industry and the society at large. SIG opens up a virtually, limitless potential for successful careers in the Corporate Sector, through a range of exciting applications of Geo-spatial technology, with dawn of every day in this era of globalization in the modern world, Geoinformatics is finding a burgeoning market through wide ranging applications in diverse fields in the corporate sector.
The two years M.Sc. Programme of SIG aims to train and empower professionals for analytical decision making and meet the high demand for skilled manpower in challenging fields such as utility enhancement, eco-monitoring, town planning, resource management or e-governance just to name a few.
Vision
To create a professional human resource in the field of Geo-spatial Technology; equipped with IT and Information Management skills; to cater to the global Geoinformatics industry requirements.
Mission
- To impart rigorous training in Geoinformatics encompassing GIS, Photogrammetry and Remote sensing etc.
- Lay special emphasis on industry requirements such as AM/FM, Vehicle tracking, E-Governance, Spatial Decision Support Systems etc.
- Enable students with additional IT and Business Management skills leading to a elevated career profile.
- Provide industry exposure through extensive project work matching global expectations.
- Provide contemporary training abreast with the latest technology tread.
Infrastructure
SIG has infrastructure ideally suited to conduct training, which exposes students to recent developments taking place in the corporate world of Geoinformatics.

Laboratory equipped with latest version of GIS software suits that are mostly preferred and widely used in the industry

Limited numbers of seats are available on first cum first served basis and are allotted on confirmation of provisional admission.
Programmes Offered

Placement
SIG has had an enviable track record of 100% placements. So far more than simply quantity, the quality of jobs garnered by SIG students is also worth a mention.
SIG offers placement support facility to those students who secure minimum acceptable grade ('C+' grade) in every subject of the first year, that is, first two module end examinations and two months project.
Career prospects
SIG has designed the course based on in-depth discussions with industries, academicians and extensive study of web sites hosting job requirements of Geoinformatics industry.

Graduates or Post graduates in Science, Agriculture, Engineering, IT, Computer Science, Management and commerce. Final year students awaiting results may also apply.
