| Introduction |
Symbiosis Institute of Journalism & Communication (SIJC) was established in 1990 and later renamed Symbiosis Institute of Media & Communication (SIMC), the Institute has evolved into a leading media Institute, providing the industry with skilled and trained media professionals adept in all fields of mass communication. SIMC's aims at truly progressive media training are diverse in content, approach and diversity of media vehicles in the areas of communication to be aware of. From print journalism, to radio and television and cinema, animation and graphics, advertising on the print, web and television, outdoors and kiosks, public relations, events, and corporate communication.
SIMC objective is to be an active catalyst in the evolution of complete communication professionals who fulfill the needs of the industry in terms of their holistic or integrated knowledge and multi-skilling, their specialized skills in one area of media, their technological skills and inter-personal skills, and their professional culture or code of conduct. SIMC stands committed to the needs of the communication industry to get suitably trained professionals, and the dreams of the aspirants to become the icons of the Indian media of tomorrow. Hence the institution has devised four specialization modules for curriculum design, which ensures the relevance to the industry needs.

| Infrastructure |
- Hostel
The SIMC is completely residential campus of 300 acres in Lavale, (15KM from Pune), with hostel provided to all students.

Canteen
A canteen functions on the campus and provides wholesome breakfast, lunch and dinner. Students have a choice of Chinese, Punjabi, Chat and health food options, which include a fresh fruit juice bar.
- Health club
To enhance the physical, mental and spiritual strength of each student, the Symbiosis Centre of Health Care [SCHC] has set up a health club which houses a well equipped gymnasium, yoga and aerobics centre.
- Other highlights include
Yoga, Fitness and Art of Living programmes, Special transcendental meditation classes Weight training and aerobic training programmes. It is compulsory in Symbiosis to attend and make the best use of health facilities here. |

SIMC offers two-year full-time Post-Graduate programmes in Mass Communication & Communication Management.
- Masters in Mass Communication (MMC):
The Mass communication comprises the following specialisations:
(a) Journalism (Print, Broadcast and Cyber Media),
(b) Audio & Visual Production (Radio Communication, Television Production, Ad and Documentary Film making and Film Studies).
- Masters of Business Administration in Communication Management (MBA-CM):
The Communication Management major comprises the following specialisations:
Advertising (Client servicing/ Account planning, media and Creative- Arts & Copy), Public Relations (PR, Corporate)

SIMC’s method of instructing its students in both the theoretical and practical aspects of mass communication has produced students who not only excel academically but also respond swiftly to professional challenges. We have an experiential brick & portal methodology of teaching-learning, which blend learning by doing, with brick & mortar, and click & portal learning. |

| Eligibility |
Graduates in any discipline from a recognised University with 50% (45% for SC/ST) aggregate are eligible. Applicants expecting their final year results may apply. Their admission will be provisional and subject to furnishing proof of graduation with 50% by beginning of the Second Semester. Failure to furnish proof shall render their admission null and void. |

First Round |
SNAP is the Symbiosis National Aptitude Test; a common written test conducted by Symbiosis for Postgraduate programmes in management, information technology, mass communication and geo-informatics, and is held in over 29cities across India. It is the first step in seeking admission to Symbiosis Institute of Media and Communication (SIMC). The score of the SNAP Test is used to select candidates for the second round. SIMC gives a varied weightage to the SANP test component scores and does not go by the aggregate SNAP score only. |

Second Round |
The second round consists of a group discussion, home assignments and a personal interview. The second round shall be done of the selected candidates in Pune only in the second half of January, 2009. |

| Facility |
Health insurance, periodic medical checkups, gym/spa, parking, examination, and some other additional charges, which may amount up to Rs. 5000, are extra. |
