Details of Infrastructure
Symbiosis Institute of Technology has a magnificent and well developed infrastructure which includes well equipped labs for B.Tech and M.Tech programs, with latest version of computers, software for modeling, design and analysis like AutoCAD, PROE and CATIA,CNC turning centre, EDM machine, MATLAB software and LabVIEW software which can be used for research by the students.

In addition to this,SIT has an enriched library with 7620 books, 75 international and national periodicals and 21 magazines. Access to e-journals, net based services, reference based services etc. all form a part of the library services. The library has also links to the online data bases like EBSCO, SCOPUS and IEEE. There are separate hostels for boys and girls with all necessary amenities like hot water and Wi-Fi facility, besides arrangement for games like table tennis, push ball, carom, basket ball, foot ball etc. The hostels also house a coffee shoppe and a snacks centre. The mess at SIT has a capacity of above 300 students and provides hygienic food. Students have access to the SIT canteen which provides South Indian, Chinese and Punjabi preparations especially for the students.

Health Club Activities
Annual medical examinations are done for the students of the institute. The institute provides cashless medical insurance for all the students. An in-house medical centre caters to emergency medical needs of the students.

Programmes offered

Symbiosis Institute of Technology offers four year full time B-Tech programs in Civil, Computer Science, Electronics and Telecommunication, Information Technology and Mechanical Engineering. Admission to B.Tech prgrammes is carried out by Symbiosis Entrance Test, AIEEE, IIT-JEE and MHT-CET examination. The details are given in the brochure of the undergraduate program.

The institute also offers the following M. Tech program in the following discipline:

The institute plans to start M.Tech program in specialized areas of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering, and Civil Engineering with effect from July 2012 after seeking approval of AICTE.

Placement
The institute has a very well organized placement cell under the leadership of Mr. Dilipraj Dongre, Head Corporate relations. The infrastructure in placement cell includes; a seminar hall for conducting pre-placement talks, discussion rooms, interview rooms and other necessary amenities and support. The cell has already established contacts with a large number of renowned companies who have desired to visit the institute for campus recruitments. All the students of the final year have been prepared for campus interviews through special programs on technical and soft skills, which would help them get prestigious jobs.

Method of Instruction
M.Tech CAD/CAM programme has been designed to transform the students into competent professionals who can take lead in product design and analysis using regular CAD/CAM software like PROE, CATIA and some special simulation software and hardware. The students would be given hands on experience by working on real life projects both in industry and in the Institute. The pedagogy of normal classes involves learning by doing in the labs with simultaneous study of theory. The curriculum includes subjects related to analytical skills, simulation skills and cross functional involvement like Mechatronics. A large number of seminars and presentations will make the students confident and proficient in soft skills too.

Integrated M.Tech-Ph.D Programme
Integrated PhD programme in Mechanical Engineering is proposed to be started simultaneously. In addition to separate intake of this programme, a maximum of five students of the M.Tech programme can be admitted to the second year of integrated PhD programme based on their performance in the first year of M.Tech programme.
